My new bar!

A few months ago I purchased a dining room set from Craigslist for a steal!  Some of the pieces (like the small buffet I refinished) were in bad shape.  I knew I eventually wanted to paint my dining room a light serene gray color, so I decided to paint my small buffet in a seafoam green color, Daiquiri Ice by Benjamin Moore, to be exact.  I am in love with it!  I still want to install a wineglass holder underneath and add some new accessories, but this is where I'm at now!

Is it possibly nearing completion??

When we bought our house we took on a big landscaping project!  The previous owners had let the yard go.  There were over grown trees on the corner of a VERY busy intersection.  There were ugly shrubs in the flowerbeds, no grass, muddy water holes when it rained, and weeds had taken over!  Needless to say we had (and still have) a lot of work to do!  We had someone come spray the yard, a wonderful landscaping company (Tilley's Lawn Care), and some sweat equity completed in one month!  We wanted something we could be proud of and it's not quite there yet, but we are happy to say progress has been made!

Loving the Living Room

We started off with a tan/brown box for our living room!  It was a blank slate.  I went back and forth with the colors I wanted to decorate the living room with.  I'm going to show you in stages how we are decorating our living room.  I will first show you the brown paneling and trim painted in the BM Chantilly Lace.  It really opened up the whole living room and made the bay windows shine!  We went with BM Revere Pewter for the wall color and just love the peaceful feeling it gives the space!  More to come soon!!!

Our "New" Old House

We finally got the answer to all our prayers!  God is good and we closed on our house February 28, 2011! After a few offers put in fell through and loan obstacles we found a house that we grew to love.  It might not have been love at first sight, but it is one that we saw potential in and felt at home there!  Patrick first thought was that it looked "too old".  I reassured him that paint can work wonders and he trusted me and all of my crazy ideas!  We are so lucky to have found a house in a good neighborhood that we can grow into!!!!  Stay tuned to see all my crazy ideas play out!!!

Our House

Kitchen Fun!

When we bought our house one month ago I never would have dreamed that it would finally look like it is starting to look!  My husband took a little convincing and trusting that I saw potential in all the brown we inherited!  We started off with 90's oak cabinets and wood chair rail to floor paneling.  We were lucky that the previous owner had installed new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops!  But, I still wanted it all white so we got to painting!  We removed all the cabinets and sanded them down.  Then, it was on to the oil based primer.  We chose Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace for our cabinet and trim color!  Mostly because I liked the name, but I loved how it is a crisp white with a little antique feel to it.  After two coats of that and new hardware they were done!  We used Martha Stewart's blue Enamelware for our wall color.  I have all of her blue applicances and accessories and I wanted a color that would be a little bit lighter than those.  This color was perfect for that!  We thought about tackling the panel but when it came down to time and energy we wanted the brown gone ASAP so we hired a wonderful painter/handyman/does-it-all contractor, Al Davis with Davis Service to do all the panel and trim!  When I walked in and saw what they had done I was in awe!  I loved it!  It instantly changed the feel to the house and added 20 years back to it!  The old smell was gone and it looked like a brand new house!
Our Kitchen BEFORE!

I finished putting on the cabinets in the main part of the kitchen last night.  We still have the pantry cabinets to do (they are soooo big!)  I plan on having that done in the next week and will post pics again when it's all complete!
